2010

Happy New Year to you all. It's been snowing here in the Scottish Borders for about three weeks, off and on, and we currently have about a foot and a half of the white stuff lying on the ground. All very picturesque. All the usual traffic chaos. The BBC is devoting all its news time to "Frozen Britain." The country seems to have ground to a halt. If only people living in places like Canada or Scandinavia could see our news reports. I think they'd laugh.

We do see the BBC news reports, and we do laugh. A simple thing that makes us scandinavians feel imensly superior.

Not to mention us hardy folk from Wisconsin, USA (-16F this AM, sorry don't know what that is in Celsius)!

I heard yesterday that somebody had stolen 2 TONS of road salt in Glasgow. As someone who has road salt as part of daily life from November to March, I just can't come up with a use for road salt other than, well, ROADS. Did 2 tons disappear into the booming Scottish salt market? Romans have taken over and are paying the minions in salt?

Any updates on this strange caper?

The salt theft is a bit bizarre, even for neds. Maybe someone decided that *their* road wasn't getting all the salt it could. Very odd. Or maybe there's a chippy somewhere with strange ideas.

-16F is -26C (I looked it up). Youch.

We had no snow here in Renton WA. this year, didn't even see a flurry. Though last year we had a horrible storm, the worst in 65 years. Makes you feel uncertain. Summer is coming around the corner. Maybe it will snow then? Seems fitting. I have yet to finish Alans series. Coming onto blogs like these encourage my mind. Guess this is me saying "hi again".

Pretty late here. I will look at other posts and fall asleep with my lappy on my belly. till next time. xo
