Scotland on Sunday did a nice piece on God of Clocks, and the Deepgate Codex as a whole. The good thing about not reading reviews is that when somebody sends you one, it's generally a nice one. This was one of those occasions when my family went out and bought multiple copies of the newspaper. (Although, saying that, it also contained a special memorial supplement on Michael Jackson, which might have had something to do with it.)
IN THE hierarchy of bookish values, literature trumps crime, crime looks down on sci-fi, and sci-fi is sniffy about fantasy.
